Letterbox Pictures to Produce Documentary Film About Comic Strip Live - Where Jerry Seinfeld, Eddie Murphy And Chris Rock Launched Their Careers

(New York, NY, June 9, 2009) - Letterbox Pictures (www.letterboxpictures.com) announced today that it will immediately start production on a feature documentary film about legendary New York comedy club, Comic Strip Live. The project is in anticipation of the Club's 35th Anniversary year, which begins in June, 2010. Since 1976, the club has launched the careers of top comedy stars some of whom include: Jerry Seinfeld, Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock, Adam Sandler, Paul Reiser, Larry Miller, George Wallace, and Lisa Lampanelli. The film is set for release in Summer, 2010.

"Eat, Drink, Laugh" is the tagline for the comedy club and is also the title of the film. EAT, DRINK, LAUGH will feature interviews with some of the most recognizable faces of comedy recounting their greatest memories at Comic Strip Live on their journey to superstardom. It will also feature never-before-seen footage of the club throughout its 35-year history.

"Comic Strip Live is to comedy what CBGB's was to music. The Strip is a quintessential New York comedy club that not only is intertwined with the city but also defined an era in comedy," said Abby Russell, Co-Director of EAT, DRINK, LAUGH.

"EAT, DRINK, LAUGH is the perfect project for us because it brings together our passion for comedy and documentary film," said Brent Sterling Nemetz,. Co-Director of EAT, DRINK, LAUGH. "Abby and I look forward to capturing the essence of how Comic Strip Live played a key role in the lives of some of our favorite comedians and ultimately their rise to fame."

EAT, DRINK, LAUGH teams Letterbox Pictures with Comic Strip Live's founders and owners Richie Tienken and Bob Wachs, as well as writer/ filmmaker / comedian Jeffrey Gurian. Tienken and Wachs managed Eddie Murphy for eleven years, and also managed Adam Sandler, Tony Rock and Colin Quinn.

It has been a wonderful journey over the last 35 years at The Strip," said Tienken. "Something about this place attracts stars. These comics are like family to me. We are all excited about EAT, DRINK, LAUGH because it will share some of those wonderful moments with everyone."

Some of those moments are already on film, and that archival material will be blended with current material to pay homage and tell the story of the legendary club and its impact on the comedy world. Tienken and the comics will share personal stories on-screen, many of which have not been heard before.

To coincide with the release of EAT, DRINK, LAUGH will be a book titled "Eat, Drink, Laugh " The History of the Greatest Comedy Club Of All Time," written by Gurian and Tienken. The book will recount the history of Comic Strip Live and feature interviews with Chris Rock, Paul Reiser, Larry Miller, George Wallace, Lewis Black, Susie Essman, Colin Quinn, Jim Gaffigan, Lisa Lampanelli, and many more. The book is represented by Adam Chromy, the founder, and Pres. of Artists and Artisans literary agency in New York City.

Richard Woods Launches "UnLearn: The Show"

Richard Woods, author of "UnLearn! Because Life Can Make You Stupid," the controversial treatise where Woods bluntly shares his non-traditional thoughts on the self-help industry, marriage, monogamy, political correctness, and morality, is back to "bitch-slap" some more sense into the remaining misguided masses of Americans - of which there are many - with "UnLearn: The Show®." The Truth May Hurt.

Rich Woods and co-host Rocko have created a weekly hour-long, and highly controversial talk show, securely cemented to a freedom of speech foundation, where its sole mission is to deliver brutally honest and gut-wrenching opinions, based upon real-world experiences, facts, and knowledge delivered with all the subtlety of a freight train careening through a maternity ward.

"UnLearn: The Show" is an innovative forum where Rich and Rocko take on current events, statistical facts, and discard political correctness with all the emotional detachment of scraping dog crap off the soles of their shoes in order to get to what has been missing from the mainstream media for decades: The Truth.

ReleaseTitle: Controversial Comic To Release New CD With Lady GA GA And Joe Rogan Diss.

After a two-year hiatus from stand up comedy due mainly to his daily radio show, many feuds with high profile comics and industry politics, Jeff Duran returns as his vulgar alter ego "JJ Star". The bulk of the CD is culled from his 2008 self-dubbed "Relapse Comedy Tour." Originally planned to be a short concert film by Los Angeles based BZR Entertainment, the project was later scrapped after Duran lost control at the taping. "Sadly the momentum we built up for the film was ruined. Thankfully BZR has given me permission to release footage from the warm up show," said Duran, who created "JJ Star" as the "most outrageous comedian of all time" in the early 90's. That moniker proved to be a major stumbling block for Duran who became blackballed by some promoters and club owners because of his outrageous behavior. ''How Embarrassing'' is not only the title it is also what Duran describes his past 15 years as a stand up comedian. "For every LATE LATE SHOW there were hell gigs where I lost it. I wanted to pick up where (SAM) KINISON left off and be that rock and roll comic that lived the life," says the comic, who has remained relatively unknown, carving out a career mostly as a DJ on southern California radio.

Duran's radio show has opened doors for his edgy act, appearing on LATE, LATE SHOW and working with Headliners Carlos Mencia and Dave Attel, who tapped Duran as they're opening act. In 2006, Duran released the CD/DVD 'Still Kicking' which was recorded in part at the Comedy Store. Selected tracks were heard on National Lampoon Comedy Radio and became a top comedy download. His 2007 follow up 'Defects Of Character' didn't fair as well, but now is considered to be his funniest work to date. Both releases included stand up along with bits, songs and characters. 'How Embarrassing' will continue the trend but also feature segments from Duran's radio show, including an exclusive interview with chart topper LADY GA GA. While obviously a wise choice considering her recent success, Duran says he included the cut because of it sounding "embarrassing" to his rock listeners at the time. Also included is a verbal "diss" on comedian Joe Rogan, who Duran refers to the "Comedy Police." While it's unclear if Rogan will respond or is even aware of Duran's comments, 'How Embarrassing' will be released through HollywoodPressLive MAY 19th and come with a DVD.

BZR Entertainment still plans to release "JJ STAR" products in the future, including a 1996 short stand up film called 'Drives Me To Drink'. "BZR artists have gone on to work at major studios, record labels ,radio stations, theater and have become valuable members of the entertainment community." says CEO Jason Blades who also writes and performs on the release. Keep an eye on www.bzrentertainment.com and the official Jeff "JJ Star" Duran Myspace for upcoming announcements.

Jeff Duran can be heard weekday afternoons hosting the DURAN SHOW 2-7PM on KKZQ 100.1 "The Edge" and www.edge100.com
