The Lion Kings of comedy are back with another ferociously funny variety show; presenting an evening of 21st century vaudeville on Monday, August 6, in the heart of Times Square at the Sage Theater, located at 711 7th Avenue (between 47th & 48th Street). Join the Lionhearted Players at 7 p.m. for an evening of magic, merriment and music with some of the best talent New York City has to offer in their variety show titled "American Midol: Bigger, Badder, Crabbier!"
Presenting: Sketch comedy by PUNCH 59, with Jen Ryan, Rik Sansone, and Melanie Keegan (since 1996, sketch comedy the way it ought to be: funny!) plus Out of this World Magic with Magician Dave Cremin (www.outofthisworldmagic.com); and from SpikeTV.com’s Geek Ray Vision, stand-up comedian Rob Gorden, with special guests singer/songwriter Michael Aquino, and comedienne Becky Yamamoto. An Entertainment Industry Networking event produced by Powella Productions under the auspices of Paradox Productions.
Arrive early at 6:30 for networking and drinks. Showcase starts at 7pm. Reception to meet performers and producers following the show. Tickets: $15 at door day of the show/ $10 in advance. (And, how refreshing! There is no drink minimum, drink as much or as little as you would like!)

THE LIONHEARTED PLAYERS began as an actor's workshop in the LES' Planet One Cafe in 2001. Since then, producers (and spouses) Powell Leonard and Miss Ella have produced variety, music, and comedy shows featuring some of New York's most talented singers and comedians. Powella productions' The LionHearted Players have performed to packed houses all over New York City including Don't Tell Mama's, Danny's Skylight, the Broadway Comedy Club, and the Undercroft Performance Space. The Lionhearted Players are excited to be featuring sketch comedy with the talented Martiza Salazar.
PUNCH 59 (1996-2001) was South Florida's only sketch comedy troupe, logging over 165 performances. The Ft. Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel calls PUNCH 59 randy, rowdy, scathing satire" and the Miami New Times hailed them as "bold, original, sophisticated sketch comedy." After a large dose of electricity, PUNCH 59 is proud to be revived and performing again in New York City and features Michael Aquino, Melanie Keegan, Jen Ryan (original PUNCH 59 castmember & FringeNYC '04 Outstanding Performance Award), and Rik Sansone (Summer '69). PUNCH 59 alums have appeared in theatre, TV, commercials, films, and voice-overs, and include Jill Michele-Melian (MAD-TV & Reno 911!), Karen Gordon (Legally Blonde II), Larry Robinson (Sergeant Kabukiman) and David Brownstein (The West Wing).
